Gibson acoustic guitars are available from around $100 (see our user report on the Maestro) up to $25,000 or more. They come in a wide range of different styles and colors, suitable for different styles of music a variety of different uses. Styles include super jumbo, jumbo, square shoulder, round shoulder, small body, contemporary and archtop.
Many Gibson acoustic guitars are “acoustic-electric” which means that they have onboard pickup and electronics which enable them to plug easily and directly into a PA system for stage use. This makes them much easier and quicker to set up, sound-check, and use on stage (without feedback problems), although in the recording studio a microphone would still be used (for higher-quality and more natural sound).
Jumbo guitars (those with a letter “J” in the name) like the J45 (see user comments here) are designed by Gibson to produce a richer bass response. Some Gibson acoustics have a cut-away which makes it easier to access the higher frets. The more expensive instruments have different woods which make them sound better. Your choice of Gibson acoustic will be influenced mainly by the style of music you play as well as your budget and personal preferences.
